Ktag ECU Info: Red PCB VS Green PCB

If you are not sure which Ktag version to buy: green PCB or red PCB. This article may help you. First post their similarities and the comes the difference. Here we go.

Ktag V7.020 red PCB & green PCB Similarities:

Both KTAG V7.020 green PCB and red PCB can read and write ECU, they are the same when using.

KTAG V7.020 review on what work:

I try with edc16c31 smart 451, read write in bdm ok with ktag, read write ok in obd with kess.

I tested with a lot of edc17 in these day and read and write without problem.

I made a video with a edc17c50 bmw 120d f21 with gpt, read and write ok.

I have a fiat edc17c69 virgin (without software inside), this I can't read.

My Ktag 7.020is able to read and write EDC17C69

7.020 version runs faster and more stable.

Ktag 7.02 good working. no problem.

Ktag master 7.020 displays diagrams via words, not pictures. It’s better to understand0

I tried to read Bosch edc17c69 gpt Fiat 500X and not working, with ktag ori read and write ok.

I read a lot of edc17 and few edc17 with gpt and all read and write ok maybe there is a bug in sw/fw from alientech.

I compared 7.020 with my old 7.003. KTAG fw 7.020 adds 100+ ECU types and supports new car models e.g. Toyota 76FXXX, PSA 17.4.4, Ford E83, VW 17.5.5 (1766), Mercedes-Benz 276 ECU, Toyota 76F, etc. It should be a good budget i think.

If you wanna flash more ecus for different vehicles, then you can get kess and ktag together, red kess is perfect for obdii using, but as you have known,there still has many ECUs that need to be programmed with Jtag, BDM and Boot protocols(tricore and ST10),then in this case,you still need ktag 7.020. For the ktag 7.020 disporting job,you can still buy a bdm frame to simple you job.

So,summary about my experience,if you are looking for a OBDII ECU Flash Tools,then you can buy Red PCB KTAG 7.020 + KESS 7.020 together,i have tested on my vehicles for my customers,no problems !

About BMW ISTA+, what do you want to know

In this post, there are 5 part of the context. As a beginner, which part should I know and what should I learn first?
Don’t worry, let us start to learn more about BMW ISTA+.

Part 2: Programming with ISTA+
Programming fundamentals with ISTA+
NOTE: Programming with ISTA+ is only possible with a BMW ICOM and a 70+ amp rated Power Supply. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PROGRAM WITH ISTA+ WITHOUT THESE TWO ITEMS!
Programming can be accessed via the “Vehicle management” / “Software update” menu.
The planned actions are initially produced in the measures plan. The measures plan determined after the vehicle test can be done directly in the “Comfort” tab, or added to manually beforehand in the “Advanced” tab, then calculated and executed.
The car can be programmed to the latest I level using the comfort software update without any further actions based on the measures plan which has already been determined.
It is not possible to select additional actions manually in this menu.
Initializations and follow-up operations that might be required are automatically added during the measures plan calculation.
All other modes of programming and pre/post requirements are discussed in detail in the Help Document located at ~\Rheingold\Help folder.

Part 3: FAQ: Evaluate SOC and Battery Registration with ISTA+
Checking your State of Charge and Battery Registration with ISTA+
Connect to the car using your preferred cable.
Do a vehicle test
After a vehicle test, go to Vehicle Management --> Service functions tab.
Next select Body, then Voltage Supply
Then select Battery
Here you will be presented with 2 options:
Option 1 is to test SOC. Choose Evaluate Battery State of Charge OR
Option 2 - Register Battery Replacement
Then click on at the bottom right. The ABL/FUB/REP and/or SSP will be populated. Select the FUB or REP to learn more OR select the ABL and run it.
NOTE: If changing battery types, coding is required before you can register battery replacement.

Part 4. FAQ: Steering Angle Sensor Adjustment
Steering Angle Sensor Adjustments:
Go to Vehicle Management --> Service Functions
Select Chassis and Suspension
Select Steering Angle Sensor
Select Steering Angle Sensor Adjustment
Then click on at the bottom right. The ABL/FUB/REP and/or SSP will be populated. Select the FUB or REP to learn more OR select the ABL and run it.

China kess 5.017 test report OK

Several weeks ago, I bought kess v2 v5.017 from the internet, I was testing kess v2 on Navarra Audi BMW and Renault among these days. Here is a simple test report.

I tested KessV2 FW V5.017 since 2 weeks...no bad surprise..

edc15/16/17 basics work fine.. Kline an Can ok

lot of denso ok ,tested today on 2016 Navarra 2.5L 144hp (7059) all fine..via OBD of course (check ktag for jtag,tricore and others... )

(The EDC17 made by OBD are Audi, bmw and renault without Tp)
